Grant helps pay storm drainage

Preliminary hearing held in Hall’s death

A preliminary hearing was held Thursday in Justice Court, before Justice Court Judge Brandon Rowell, for Christopher Derrick Hobgood for a murder charge in the death of James Michael Hall in April. Hobgood was represented by Michael Kuykendall and Shirlee Baldwin, while county prosecutor Lawrence Hahn represented the county.

Downtown changing up July 4th activities

As summer is about to kick off, one of the events people in Marion County look forward to is the annual “Freedom Fest,” scheduled around the weekend of July 4th. Last year’s event was canceled due to the pandemic, but it has been a family-friendly event downtown for several years prior.

Memorial Day service set for Monday
