July tourism tax sees 4.7% rise

Columbia's 3% tourism taxes collected during July rebounded slightly upwards to $82,274.51, an approximate 4.7% increase from the $78,445.27 collected in June.
This special tax, which is imposed strictly on restaurants and hotels, is reported each month based on the collections from two months prior.

Granger proud to steer CHS soccer program

Drew Granger, now in his third year in Columbia, is the new head boys and girls soccer coach for the Columbia High and Jr. High Wildcats. He spoke to members of the Columbia Rotary Club on Sept. 7 about his projections for his teams in the upcoming soccer season.
